Pop Rocks
Pop Rocks, a series of relief and watercolor monoprints, records the decade-long practice of painting small watercolor portraits of rock formations that Berman finds in natural settings.
As an avid collector of small, interesting rocks and stones, Berman’s sketchbook practice has expanded to examine time alongside these rocks; in this series she has also painted coastal rockpool formations, thousand-foot-tall mountainsides, and tiny summertime seedpods.
These monoprints capture Berman’s whimsical and thoughtful approach to how humans work both alongside and within nature.
